About the Painted Bodhrans
The designs used to decorate the drums were adapted from and inspired
by images in the BOOK OF KELLS. The heraldic design was inspired by an
image in a stained glass window at The Cloisters. We can put in any arms
you wish and will help you find your family/clan arms for this purpose.
Please read the heraldry page for more information
about heraldry and heraldic law.
When ordering the heraldic Bodhran, send the name wanted and country
of origin. If you already know the coat-of-arms, send us a blazon, a description
and/or a photo or a picture of the coat- of- arms wanted.
The goatskin drum heads are sensitive to humidity and will shrink or
expand with the weather. To accommodate the needs of the materials, we
have painted the drums with an acrylic stain so that it would remain flexible
and move with the drum. The black lines have been made with waterproof
ink. We expect the painting to be resilient to normal conditions or wear.
We will gladly touch up your drum if needed. We do custom work as well,
so if you want something special, ask us.
